David highlighted what we should desire, even more than gold and honey.
  • The law of the Lord
  • The statutes of the LORD [are] right
  • The commandment of the LORD
  • The fear of the LORD
  • The judgments of the LORD
All these aren’t supposed to be a burden to us, it should excite us more than honey and should be precious to us more than gold.

When we desire these 5 things, it helps us live according to God’s will. When you have fear of God you will do His will.

Also every law established by God is meant to warn of the consequences of our actions, that’s why David said moreover by them is thy servant warned.

Remember in one of our expositions, Jesus said He didn’t come to abolish the law but to fulfil it. And all what David highlighted doesn’t just warn us, when we keep them and have the fear of God, we are rewarded greatly.

Every God’s commandment is not for His benefit, it’s for our benefit.

When we realise this, we will take God’s law more seriously.

Having the fear of God or keeping God’s commandment might deprive us of short time pleasure, but the reward is great.

Lastly, though you may fall into sin, ask God for forgiveness and get back up.

David knew this and that was why he said the prayer in verse 12 and 13.

{19:12} Who can understand [his] errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

{19:13} Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous [sins;] let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.


New Testament
Matthew 24:29-51

{24:48} But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; {24:49} And shall begin to smite [his] fellow servants, and to eat and

drink with the drunken; {24:50} The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for [him,] and in an hour that he is not aware of, {24:51} And shall cut him asunder, and appoint [him] his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

We need to be prepared for the second coming of Jesus Christ because no one knows when Jesus will come.

Let's not be like the evil servant, we should always be on guard doing what God wants us to do. we should be active in service for God.

The consequences for not being ready when Jesus comes is terrible. May we not experience it. The only way not to experience it is to always be prepared.

How can you be prepared?

By doing the will of God.

How do you know the will of God?

By studying God’s word and praying to God.


Action Point

Seek God’s face by studying His word and through prayer and fasting for revival

4. Pray for grace to be consistent in bible study and prayers

5. Pray for the grace to do God’s will and to be ever ready for Jesus Christ second coming

6. Pray that God should remove every hindrance and every delay in the way of your dream being              fulfilled.

7. Pray for patience and the strength to carry on
