Old Testament 1
Exodus 21

Yesterday's scripture in Exodus 20 is about God setting rules for Israelites to serve Him better, in today's scripture Exodus 21 , the rules are for Israelites to live well among themselves and to be a good citizen. Just like the laws of a country today.

the Israelites were governed by God and God set both the spiritual and physical law for them to abide by

Governing laws are important for a country to avoid chaos.

Old Testament 2
Psalm 62 & 63

62:1 Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation.

62:2 He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.

Is God your defense, rock and salvation? If yes, why are you worried about that situation? Trust God, He is in control! All power belongs to Him and He will save you with His powerful hand.

New Testament
Acts 11:19-30

11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

The Disciples were not just going out to preach immediately they accepted Jesus Christ. They were first taught about Jesus.

This is a lesson to us as Christians, new converts should be taught the teachings of Jesus. You don't give what you don't have. The Holy Spirit gives utterances but you need to have spent time with Jesus to even recognize when the Holy Spirit is speaking. Jesus said “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves” - Matthew 10:16). We don’t have to know everything about Jesus before we share the gospel but we need to take our fellowship with Him and Bible study seriously.

11:28 Then one of them, named Agabus, stood up and showed by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout all the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius Caesar.

11:29 Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea.

11:30 This they also did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

As Christians, we have the privilege of seeing things before they happen. God shows us vision and we are responsible for how we react to it. Imagine if Agabus didn’t speak up when the Holy Spirit showed him the vision that there was going to be a great famine.

We should also learn here how the disciples sent relief to brethren dwelling in Judea. Everyone contributed according to their ability. The church is meant to support each other. But it’s sad we witness the opposite in some churches today. We need to go back to how God wants the church to live. God wants the church to live in love! May God help as many churches that have strayed from the Love of God back to living in Love in Jesus Name.

Action Point
